1) High-speed Internet figures for the 1st quarter 2007 – provisional results

Reminder: as indicated in the publication, the data published each quarter by the high-speed Internet observatory are rounded provisional data, as requested by the operators. The rounding margin is plus or minus 25 000, representing less than 0.2% of current high-speed Internet numbers.

At 31 March 2007, there were 13.5 million high-speed Internet subscriptions in France, of which 12.8 million subscriptions were ADSL.

The number of high-speed Internet subscriptions grew by about 800 000 in the first quarter (+6.3%) and by 3 million in one year (+28.9%).

2) Methodology notes

  • These figures are provisional; they are based on data received from major Internet access providers (IAPs). Missing data is sometimes replaced with estimates.

ARCEP will publish the final results for the first quarter in its Market Observatory on 31 July 2007.

  • There may be time lags between when intermediate offers are delivered (unbundling and bitstream) and when they are effectively put into service on the end market. Data for these two market may reflect this gap.
